Etiology (medicine)

Etiology (in medicine) means figuring out what caused a particular illness or disease. It's sort of like a detective trying to figure out what caused a crime. Doctors, scientists, and researchers do lots of looking and investigation to figure out what caused the illness. This helps them come up with treatments and prevent other people from getting sick.
