Evacuation of German civilians during the end of World War II

In World War II, there was a big fight between Germany and other countries. It was very dangerous for people in Germany because they could get hurt or killed. The leaders of Germany wanted to make sure that as many people as possible were safe. They told all the people to leave their homes and go to other places where there were no fights happening.

This is called an evacuation. The people who left their homes were called evacuees. They had to leave behind all their things and only take what they could carry. They went on long journeys on buses, trains or even by walking. They were very scared and did not know what would happen to them.

The reasons for evacuation were to keep people safe from bombs that could hit their homes, to keep them safe from fighting, and to ensure that they had enough food and water to survive. Many children were also evacuated so that they could be safe from the fighting.

The evacuation was not easy because there were not enough places for everyone to go. Some places where the evacuees went were full of people and did not have enough food or water. Some people got hurt or even died during their journey.
