Excitable medium

An excitable medium is something that is easily excited (or stimulated) and responds quickly. It is like a person who gets really excited and responds very quickly. An example of an excitable medium is electricity. When electricity is passed through a wire, it can cause lights to turn on and off very quickly. Other examples of excitable media are water, air, and certain chemicals.
