ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Exodus 25

Okay kiddo, do you see this big book called the Bible? It has a lot of stories and lessons for us to learn. One of the stories is about a man named Moses who talked to God.

God told Moses that he wanted to have a special place to live with his people, the Israelites. So God told Moses how to make a special tent called a Tabernacle. God gave Moses a list of things to collect like gold, silver, and special fabrics to make the Tabernacle look beautiful.

In Exodus 25, God tells Moses to collect a very special box made out of acacia wood. This box is called the Ark of the Covenant. The Ark of the Covenant is very precious to God because it will hold the two stone tablets that he wrote the Ten Commandments on.

God tells Moses exactly how to make the Ark. It has to be covered in gold, have special angels on top and be carried by long poles so people don't touch it. Inside the Ark, Moses will put the Ten Commandments and the rod of Aaron as a symbol of God's power.

The Ark will be kept in the special tent called the Tabernacle, which will be like God's house. The Tabernacle will have special things inside like a golden candlestick and an altar for sacrifices. This is important because it will be a place where people go to talk to God and ask for forgiveness for their sins.

So, in summary, Exodus 25 is about God telling Moses to build a very special box to hold the Ten Commandments and other important items. This box is called the Ark of the Covenant and will be placed in the Tabernacle, a special tent designed for worship and communication with God.
