Tax evasion is when someone does not pay the taxes that they are legally required to pay. This legally means you don’t report all the money you earned or did not pay the taxes you owe. This can be done by not reporting all of your income or claiming expenses that are not true. Tax evasion is a serious crime and is illegal in many countries. People who get caught evading taxes may have to pay back all the taxes they owe, plus interest, and could even be put in jail.
