ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Exoelectron emission

Exoelectron emission is when electrons which are tiny parts of atoms fly away from certain kinds of atoms. This happens when those kinds of atoms get too hot, like when they’re put inside a special machine that shoots out heat. The heat makes the electrons in the atoms so excited they can’t stay attached to the atom anymore, so they fly away. They’re called exoelectrons because they come from outside the atom!
