Exophora

Well, sometimes when people are talking or writing, they might mention something but not say exactly what it is. This is called "exophora" and it's like playing "I spy" with language.

For example, let's say I tell you "I saw a beautiful bird in the tree today, it had really bright feathers." Now, I didn't say exactly what kind of bird it was, but you can guess based on the clues I gave you. That's exophora! I'm not directly saying what I saw, but I'm giving you enough information to figure it out.
