Expanded Craters

Okay kiddo, have you ever seen a hole in the ground? Maybe you dug one with a shovel or saw one at the beach. A hole in the ground is like a crater. Sometimes craters can get bigger and bigger, almost like they're expanding.

This can happen in a few different ways. One way is when something hits the ground really hard, like a meteor or a bomb. When this happens, it can make a hole in the ground (a crater) that is kinda small at first. But over time, wind, rain, and other weather things can make the crater bigger and bigger.

Another way that craters can get bigger and expand is if there is something hot that's releasing gas under the ground. The gas can push up the ground and make it bulge up, kinda like a pimple. If that bulge pops, it can make a crater. And if there's still gas coming up, the crater can keep getting bigger and bigger.

So, that's what an expanded crater is, kiddo. It's a hole in the ground that started out small but got bigger and bigger over time because of things like weather or gas. Pretty cool, huh?
