ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Exposure (magic)

Exposure in magic is when the audience is given a peek behind the curtain and can see how a trick is done. This is not a good thing because it takes away the mystery and wonder of the trick. It's like when you're playing hide and seek and your friend tells you where they're hiding before you find them - it's not as exciting anymore.

Magicians work really hard to create illusions and make it seem like they're doing something amazing or impossible. But if someone shows how the trick works, then everyone can see that it's just a clever way of fooling your eyes. It's like a secret being revealed that takes away from the fun and excitement of magic.

Sometimes people may want to know how a trick works because they're curious, but it's important to respect the magic and let it be a mystery. It's more fun to be amazed and let your imagination run wild than to know exactly how the trick is done. So when you see a magician perform, just enjoy the magic and don't worry about how it's done!
