Expression profiling

Expression profiling is like taking a picture of your body to see which parts are active and doing their job.

You know how when you run, your heart beats faster and your breathing gets quicker? That’s because your body is working harder. Similarly, inside your body, there are tiny things called genes that tell your body what to do.

Expression profiling is like taking a picture of these genes to see which ones are doing their job and which ones are not. Scientists use special tools and machines to take a snapshot of all the genes in a particular cell or tissue.

Then they can see how active each gene is and figure out which ones are related to different diseases or conditions.

It’s like looking at different parts of your body and seeing how they’re doing. If your lungs are working too hard, you might need to exercise more. Similarly, scientists might find that certain genes are working too hard, which can help them find new ways to treat diseases like cancer or Alzheimer's.
