Dominance is a way of showing who is in charge. It is when a person or animal acts like they are more important than someone else. For example, if you have two dogs playing together, one may try to be the boss by not letting the other dog have a toy. Dogs can express dominance by barking, growling or moving closer to the other dog. As humans, we can express dominance by being louder, standing tall, or using body language like pointing or making eye contact.
