ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Extended family

Extended family is basically the family members beyond your parents and siblings. They can be your grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and even great-grandparents. It's like having a big family with lots of relatives who also love and care for you.

For instance, imagine you have a grandparent, let's say your grandmother, who lives with you or visits often. She is part of your extended family. She is not your mom or dad or your sibling, but she is still a very important family member who loves you and helps take care of you.

Similarly, if you have cousins, they are part of your extended family too. You may not see them all the time, but they are still family members and you share a special bond with them.

Overall, having an extended family means having more people in your life who love and support you, and also more people to share your happy moments and tough times with.
