ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Extended file attributes

Extended file attributes are a way of storing extra information about a computer file. For example, they can tell you when the file was created, who created it, and what the file is used for. They can also store other information, like tags you put on the file so that you can easily search for it. Extended file attributes are like adding labels to a file, so you can easily find it and see all the information about it.
