Extensionalism

Extensionalism is the idea that things simply 'are'. When we look at an object, we can see that it has certain qualities or characteristics. For example, a ball is round, bouncy, and colorful. These qualities help us to identify the object and describe it to others.

Now, imagine that we have a group of balls in different colors and sizes. Each ball is still a ball, but they have their own unique qualities that set them apart from one another. The extensionalist view is that each ball is just what it is, and nothing more. We don't need to worry about what the ball 'means' or what it represents, we can simply enjoy the balls for what they are.

Extensionalism is often associated with the idea of things having a fixed essence or identity that stays the same no matter what. This means that even if we were to change something about the ball - like painting it a different color - it would still be the same ball at its core.

In this way, extensionalism encourages us to focus on the objective qualities of things and avoid getting lost in interpretations or meanings. It's all about appreciating the world around us simply for what it is, and not getting bogged down in any deeper meanings or interpretations.
