F-distribution

F-distribution is used to compare the variances of two different groups. Imagine two groups - group 1 and group 2. The F-distribution helps us to figure out if the variance (how spread out the values are from the mean) of group 1 is bigger than the variance of group 2. To measure this, we use F-distribution which is a special type of graph that tells us the probability of something happening. If the graph is really high, it means that it is more likely that the variance of group 1 is bigger than the variance of group 2.
