Factions in the Republican Party (United States)

Factions are groups of people in the same party who have different ideas and opinions about how to do things. In the Republican Party in the United States, there are different factions meaning some people in the party think different things are important and have different ideas on how to approach issues. Some of the different factions are fiscal conservatives, social conservatives, moderates, and libertarians. Fiscal conservatives believe that the government should be smaller and taxes should be lower. Social conservatives think it is important to preserve traditional values like religion, marriage, and family. Moderates are in between fiscal and social conservatives and libertarians are for more freedom for people, like freedom to do what they want and less government control.
