False arrest

False arrest is when someone is taken into custody or put in jail by a police officer, even though they have not actually done anything wrong. When this happens, it's called a false arrest. It's against the law for the police to do this because it's considered a violation of a person's rights. People can try to get compensation from the police when this happens, but it isn't always easy.
