ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Falsework

Falsework is kind of like a big support system that we use when we build really tall buildings or bridges. Imagine you're building a really cool tower out of blocks. You start by stacking up a few blocks, but as you add more and more blocks, the tower gets really wobbly and might fall over! That's kind of like what happens when we build a big building or bridge without any support. So, we use falsework to keep everything stable and in place.

Falsework is usually made out of strong materials like metal or wood, and it's shaped sort of like a big cage or frame. We put it all around the building or bridge that we're building and it keeps everything in place so it doesn't wobble or fall down. Once we're done building, we take the falsework away and the building or bridge stands all on its own, nice and strong!

So, think of falsework like the scaffolding that you might see around a building under construction, but on a much bigger scale. It's like an extra set of hands to help us build things safely and make sure they stay standing for a long, long time.
