Faro shuffle

Okay kiddo, so the faro shuffle is a way of shuffling a deck of cards. Imagine you have a bunch of cards in your hand, and you want to mix them up so they're not all in order anymore.

To do the faro shuffle, you start by splitting the deck in half - half the cards in one hand, and half in the other. Then you take the two halves and push them together, but not all the way. You leave a little gap in the middle, and then you start to weave the cards together - like an over-under pattern.

So you take one card from the top of one half of the deck, and put it down on the table. Then you take one card from the top of the OTHER half of the deck, and put it down on top of the first card. Then you take another card from the first half, and put it down on top of the second card. You keep doing this, alternating between the two halves, until all the cards have been woven together like a braid.

When you're done, you end up with a completely mixed-up deck of cards - but still in the same order! That's the cool thing about the faro shuffle. If you do it perfectly, the cards will be shuffled, but still in the exact same order they were in before. It's like magic!
