ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Fatty liver disease

Okay little one, so imagine that your liver is like a factory. It helps make important things that your body needs and it also filters out things that can harm you. But sometimes, if you eat too much unhealthy food, your liver can get too full of fat.

This is kind of like when you stuff too many toys in your toy box and it gets hard to put any more in. When your liver gets too full of fat, it can't do its job properly and this can lead to something called fatty liver disease.

If it's not treated, fatty liver disease can cause problems like liver inflammation, scarring, and even liver failure. So it's important to eat healthy foods like fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, and to limit the amount of junk food and sugary drinks you have.

It's also a good idea to get plenty of exercise and visit your doctor regularly to make sure your liver is healthy. That way, your little factory can keep doing its job and help keep you healthy too!
