ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Federalist

Okay, imagine you and your friends are trying to make a decision about something, like what game to play. Some might want to play tag, while others might want to play hide-and-seek.

Now imagine if your group of friends lived in different houses and you all had to make a decision that affected everyone, like maybe what time everyone needed to go to bed.

That's kind of what the Federalist idea is about. In America, there were a bunch of different states with different rules and ideas about how things should be run. Some people thought these states should be like separate countries, making their own rules and doing their own thing. Other people thought that wouldn't work and that it would be better for everyone if the states all worked together and made decisions as one big country.

The Federalists were the ones who thought everyone should work together as one big country. They believed that having one strong government that all the states agreed to would be better for everyone because it would mean that everyone followed the same rules and there was no confusion or fighting between the different states.

Hope that helps you understand a little better!
