ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Federated state

A federated state is like a big family where each member has their own house, but they are all part of the same family. In this family, each member is like a state, and together they create a bigger group like a country.

For example, let's imagine a big family with 50 members. Each member has their own house and can make their own rules, but they all follow some general rules that the family created to make sure everyone is happy and safe.

In the same way, a federated state is a group of smaller states that have their own government and laws, but they follow some general rules that the country created to make sure everyone is happy and safe.

In the United States of America, there are 50 states, and each state has its own government, laws, and way of doing things. But they are all part of the same country, and they share some common laws, like the Constitution.

So, just like a big family, a federated state is made up of smaller states that come together to create a bigger group, where everyone has their own space, but they all work together for the common good.
