ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Feminist literary criticism

Feminist literary criticism is when people look at stories and books and poems and other things that people write and ask themselves, "Is this fair to girls and women?" They also ask, "Are there enough stories about girls and women, or do too many books only talk about boys and men?" Feminist literary critics might look at how women characters are treated in the story, or how women writers are treated in real life. They might also ask if the way the story is written makes it harder for girls or women to understand or enjoy it. Feminist literary criticism is all about making sure that girls and women are treated the same way as boys and men, and that they get to enjoy stories and books that are just for them.
