ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Feuilleton

Okay kiddo, so you know how when you read a storybook, there are different chapters or parts to the story? Well, when grown-ups read newspapers, they sometimes have stories that are like small chapters or parts too. And we call these small stories feuilletons!

Sometimes these feuilletons are about things that really happened, like a famous person visiting a city or a big event that happened in the world. But other times, they are written like made-up stories, just for fun.

Feuilletons were really popular a long time ago, when there were no TVs or phones to entertain people. People would read newspapers and look forward to reading the next feuilleton to find out what happened next in the story.

Nowadays, there are still some newspapers that have feuilletons, but they are not as popular as they used to be. But if you ever read a grown-up newspaper, keep an eye out for the feuilleton section and you can give it a try!
