ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Fictional location

Okay kiddo, do you know how sometimes when you read a story or watch a movie, there are places where the characters go that don't really exist in real life? Those places are called fictional locations. They are like special places made up by the person who wrote the story or made the movie.

For example, have you ever read Harry Potter or watched the movies? Hogwarts is a fictional location because it doesn't really exist in the real world. It's a special school for wizards and witches that the author of the Harry Potter books made up in her imagination.

Fictional locations can be anything the person who made up the story wants them to be. They can be magical, like Hogwarts or Narnia, or they can be ordinary, like a made-up town for a story. It's kind of like creating your own imaginary world to play in.

So next time you read a book or watch a movie, try to notice if there are any fictional locations in it, and have fun imagining what they might be like!
