ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Fictosexuality

Okay kiddo, imagine you're playing make-believe with your friends and you pretend to have a crush on someone. That's just for fun and doesn't mean you actually have feelings for that person in real life, right? Well, some people feel that way all the time, even when they're not playing make-believe. That's what fictosexuality is.

It's when someone feels romantic or sexual attraction to fictional characters (like characters from movies, TV shows, books, or video games). They might have a crush on a character and think about them a lot or even have fantasies about them, but they usually don't have those same feelings for real people.

It's important to remember that this is just how some people feel and it's okay for everyone to have their own attractions and preferences. But because it can be confusing or hard to understand for some people, people who feel this way might not always feel comfortable talking about it openly.
