Figurehead (object)

A figurehead is like a fancy decoration on the front of a big boat. Imagine your toy boat having a little toy soldier figure that's standing at the front of the boat. That's kind of like what a figurehead is on a real boat, except it's usually a statue of a person or an animal. It's supposed to make the boat look really cool and special. But, it doesn't actually help the boat move or do anything useful. It's just there to look good!
