Okay kiddo, let's talk about the First Council of Nicaea.
You know how when we go to church we talk about God and Jesus? Well, a long long time ago, people were still talking about God and Jesus but they weren't all saying the same things. Some people believed in different things about Jesus, which made it hard for everyone to agree on what to teach.
So a bunch of leaders from different churches got together to talk it out. It was kind of like a big meeting to figure out what they all believed in. That meeting was called the First Council of Nicaea.
At the meeting, they talked about lots of things, but one really important thing they focused on was the idea of the Trinity. See, some people believed that Jesus was just a really important person, kind of like a prophet, but not quite the same as God. Other people believed that Jesus was actually God himself, just with a different name.
The council talked it out and eventually decided that Jesus was indeed part of something called the Trinity. The Trinity means that there's God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and they're all part of the same God. So Jesus was both his own person, and also God himself.
This decision was important because it helped everyone agree on what they were teaching, and it set the standard for Christianity for a really long time after that. So the First Council of Nicaea was a big deal, because it helped everyone agree on what they believed about God and Jesus.
