First Lutheran hymnal

Okay kiddo, have you ever been to a church where they sing songs and hymns as part of the service? Well, a really long time ago, a man named Martin Luther started a new kind of church called the Lutheran church. He wanted people to be able to read and understand the Bible for themselves instead of just listening to the priests telling them what to believe.

So, Martin Luther and his friends decided to write some new hymns that people could sing in church that would help them understand the Bible better. They wrote these hymns in their own language so that everyone could understand them, even if they didn't speak Latin.

Later on, they decided to put all these hymns together in a book called a hymnal, kind of like a big book of songs. The first Lutheran hymnal was called "Achtliederbuch" which means "Eight Song Book" in German. It was published in 1524 and had eight hymns in it.

Over time, more hymns were added to the hymnal, and different versions of it were published. Today, there are many different hymnals used in Lutheran churches all around the world. They all contain lots of hymns that help people understand and connect with God.
