First island chain

A first island chain is like a necklace. Instead of having a necklace made of jewels or beads, in a first island chain we have a necklace made of islands. Imagine a bunch of islands all connected together in a line—that's what a first island chain looks like! It can stretch for thousands of miles and is made up of islands of all different shapes and sizes. Some island chains are close to shore and others are very, very far away from any other land.
