ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

First on the Moon

Okay, kiddo! Do you know that the moon is like a big ball that revolves around the Earth? It's also a place that no human had ever stepped on before. But one day, in the year 1969, a team of super-brave astronauts took a big spaceship called Apollo 11 to land on the moon for the very first time!

Do you know what an astronaut is? An astronaut is a person who goes to space! These astronauts - named Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins - trained super-hard for months and months to be ready to go on this big adventure. They even had special suits to protect them from the space environment!

So, they blasted off from Earth and traveled all the way to the moon. When they finally landed, Neil Armstrong was the first person to step onto the moon's surface! He even said a super-famous sentence: "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." Buzz Aldrin joined him, and together, they planted an American flag on the moon's surface.

But Michael Collins stayed up in the spaceship while they explored, making sure everything was okay. After some time on the moon, the astronauts flew back to Earth as heroes!

And that, my little friend, is the story of first humans landing on the moon!
