A fisherman, also called an angler, is someone who goes to a body of water, like a lake or a river, with a fishing rod and bait to try and catch fish.
The fishing rod is a long stick that has a string tied to one end and a hook on the other end. The fisherman puts the bait on the hook, which can be things like worms, insects or small fish, and then casts the string out into the water.
The fisherman then waits and watches for a fish to bite the bait. When a fish bites, it pulls on the string and the fisherman feels the tug. The fisherman then uses the fishing rod to gently pull the hook and the fish out of the water.
The fisherman may catch a lot of different kinds of fish like trout, bass and catfish. Some fishermen catch fish just for fun, while others do it for sport or to sell the fish to other people to eat.
Fishermen need to be careful to follow rules and regulations about where and when they can fish, and how many fish they are allowed to catch. This is important to protect the fish and the environment.
