Fission fragment reactor

A fission fragment reactor is like a mini-nuclear power plant. It is a type of nuclear reactor that produces electricity by splitting atoms. Inside the reactor, atoms of a type of uranium called uranium-235 are split apart in a process called fission. This releases energy and particles called fission fragments which are made up of small pieces of the uranium atoms. This energy is used to heat up water which turns into steam. The steam moves a turbine, which then makes electricity. So, a fission fragment reactor uses fission fragments to make electricity.
