ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Flanking maneuver

A flanking maneuver is a type of military tactic. It is when two groups of soldiers attack the same enemy from different directions. This makes it hard for the enemy to protect itself from both directions. It is like trying to protect two sides of a house from people coming from both the front and the back door—it's just too hard.
