Flicker vertigo

Flicker vertigo is when your head starts to feel a bit dizzy or wobbly when you look at something that’s going on and off really quickly, like a strobe light.

You know how sometimes when you’re spinning around in circles, everything seems to keep moving for a little while even when you stop spinning? That’s kind of what’s going on here. Your brain is trying to keep up with all the flashing lights and it starts to get a little confused.

It’s like when you’re reading a book and someone turns on a really bright light, it can be hard to see the words for a little bit. But instead of just being hard to see, your body starts to feel a bit strange too. Some people might feel a little sick, or like they need to sit down.

Luckily, flicker vertigo isn’t usually very serious and it usually goes away pretty quickly once you stop looking at the flashing lights. But it’s still good to be careful when you’re around things like strobe lights or flashing cameras. It’s a good idea to take a break if you start to feel a bit off, and make sure to tell a grown-up if you’re not feeling well.
