Flight control surfaces

Flight control surfaces are the movable parts on an airplane, helicopter, rocket or other flying vehicle. These surfaces help the pilot control the direction and speed of the vehicle. They are usually made from lightweight materials, like metal, so that they don't add too much extra weight and make the vehicle harder to fly. Control surfaces are connected to each other and to the pilot's controls in the cockpit, so that they move when the pilot moves the controls.
