Floodplain restoration

Floodplain restoration is when people work to make rivers, streams, and other waterways in floodplains better for the environment. Floodplains are areas of land near rivers and streams that get flooded when it rains a lot. When this happens, the water can damage homes and roads and also cause a lot of pollution. So people try to make these areas healthy again by planting trees, building wetlands, and putting up fences to keep people and animals away. All of these things help keep the water in the floodplain clean, and help protect the homes and roads from getting damaged.
