ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Focus stacking

Have you ever taken a picture of a bug or a flower and it came out blurry? That's because the camera can't focus on everything at once. Focus stacking helps solve that problem!

Focus stacking is like stacking pancakes on top of each other. Imagine you want to make a tall stack of pancakes, but each pancake is a little different. Maybe one pancake has chocolate chips and another has blueberries. You want to make sure you get a bite of everything.

So instead of just making one big pancake, you make lots of little pancakes. Each pancake may be a little different, but when you stack them up all together, you get a big, delicious pancake tower!

That's what focus stacking does with pictures. It takes lots of pictures of the same thing, but each picture is focused on a different part of the thing. Maybe one picture is focused on the tip of the flower petal, and another picture is focused on the stem. When you put all those pictures together, you get one really sharp and clear picture of the whole flower! Kind of like a pancake tower.

So instead of having one blurry picture, you have one clear picture that shows everything in focus. Isn't that cool?
