Foods containing tyramine

Okay kiddo, let's talk about something called tyramine. This is a chemical that can be found in some foods. When we eat it, it can cause changes in our body that may not feel good.

Some foods that contain tyramine include aged cheeses like cheddar, blue cheese and brie. If you like pickled foods, the pickles and sauerkraut that you love can have tyramine too. Fermented foods like soy sauce, miso, and kimchi also contain this chemical. Other foods that may have tyramine include cured meats like salami and pepperoni, as well as smoked fish and some alcoholic drinks like red wine and beer.

Now, these foods are not bad for us, but for some people with certain medical conditions, eating too much tyramine can cause headaches, high blood pressure or other problems. So it's important to be aware of the foods that have tyramine in them and to talk to a doctor if you think that these foods might be affecting how you feel.
