Ford circle

The Ford Circle is like a game you can play with shapes that helps you figure out how they fit together. It's named after a smart guy named David Ford who came up with it a long time ago.

Here's how it works: Imagine you have a circle, and you want to draw some straight lines inside it, but you want to make sure they all touch each other at some point.

If you draw one line straight across the middle of the circle, that's a start. Now imagine drawing two more lines, one starting at the very top of the circle and the other at the very bottom. These two lines would meet in the middle of your first line, making a shape that looks like a "Y".

Now imagine drawing two more lines, starting at the left and right sides of the circle. These two lines would meet in the middle with your first three lines and create a shape like a star. The cool thing about the Ford Circle is that you can keep drawing more lines, and they will all touch each other at some point.

The Ford Circle can help people figure out how to fit different shapes together, kind of like a puzzle. It's used by designers, engineers, and architects to make sure everything fits together nicely. So next time you see a cool building or a fancy machine, think about how the Ford Circle might have helped make it!
