ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Four Noble Truths

The four noble truths are a set of four principles that teach us how to live our lives in a way that leads to peace and happiness. They are part of a teaching called Buddhism.

The first noble truth is that life can be full of suffering. This means that life isn't always easy and happy. We all experience hard times, sadness, and worry.

The second noble truth is that the cause of this suffering is our own desires. If we have too many wants, like wanting more money or fame, this can lead us down the wrong path and cause us suffering.

The third noble truth is that we can let go of our desires and put an end to our suffering. This means learning how to be happy with what we already have and controlling our desires.

The fourth noble truth is that there is a way to do this. This way is called the “Eightfold Path.” It is a set of teachings that guide us to living a life of peace and happiness.
