Fourteen Points

Okay kiddo, do you know what a speech is? It's when someone talks to a big group of people about something important.

Well, a long time ago, in 1918, there was a very important speech given by a man named Woodrow Wilson. He was the president of the United States at that time.

In his speech, President Wilson talked about a plan to make the world a better place. He called this plan the "Fourteen Points".

Now, let's break it down, shall we?

The Fourteen Points were made up of 14 ideas or suggestions for countries to follow in order to create peace and prevent future wars.

Some of these included things like giving people the right to choose their own government and countries working together to solve their problems instead of fighting about them.

A big idea called for creating an international organization that could help countries talk and work together peacefully. This organization was later created and is now called the United Nations.

The Fourteen Points were seen as a really important step forward in creating a peaceful world. They helped to end the First World War and gave hope to people that future wars could be avoided.

So, President Wilson's Fourteen Points may have sounded like a bunch of big and complicated ideas, but at its heart, it was really about trying to make the world a better place and keep people safe from harm.
