Francis turbine

A Francis turbine is a type of water turbine. It is used to turn the energy from moving water into electricity. It does this by using blades that spin when water flows through them. An electric generator is attached to the turbine, and as the blades spin it produces electricity. Francis turbines are usually placed in dams or other waterways to take advantage of the energy created by the flow of water.
