Franco-American alliance
Imagine you have a best friend who lives in another country across the ocean. Let's say that friend is France. Now, sometimes friends need to stick together and help each other out. That's what happened a long time ago during a big war called the American Revolution.
You see, back then, America was just starting out and trying to become its own country. But it was really hard because it had to fight against a big and powerful country called Great Britain. So, America needed some friends to help them out. And that's when France stepped in.
France chose to be America's friend and help them fight against Great Britain. This was called the Franco-American alliance. France and America promised to help each other out and work together to try and beat Great Britain in the war.
With France's help, America was able to win some big battles and eventually win the war. This made America really happy and grateful to France for their help. And France was happy too because they were able to stick up for America and show that they were good friends.
