Freedom Charter

A Freedom Charter is a list of rights and freedoms that people in South Africa asked for in 1955. It said that everyone should have the same rights, no matter what their race, color, or beliefs were. The charter also asked for better conditions for workers including the right to form unions and the right to earn a fair wage. It asked for land to be shared between everyone. Finally, it said that South Africa should be a country free of discrimination, a place where everyone could live and work together in peace.
