ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Fremont Dragstrip

Fremont Dragstrip is a big, long piece of land where people go to watch cars go really fast. The cars go so fast because they have special engines that make them go really, really fast.

Before the big, fast cars go on the track, they have to go through a big inspection to make sure they're safe to drive. The people who inspect the cars are called "tech inspectors". They make sure the cars have good brakes, good tires, and that the drivers have on special clothes to keep them safe.

Once the cars are inspected, they go to a special area to warm up their engines. The engines make a lot of noise, so it's really loud! After they've warmed up, the cars drive to the starting line. There are two cars that race at a time, and they try to be the first car to cross the finish line at the end of the track.

While the cars are racing, there are people called "officials" who watch to make sure they're following the rules. After the race, the cars drive back to the pits to cool down and get checked again to make sure they're still safe.

Lots of people go to Fremont Dragstrip to watch the cars go really fast. Some people even bring their own cars to race! It can be really exciting to watch the cars go down the track and see who wins.
