So, you know how we built houses and buildings with different styles over time? Well, a long, long time ago, people in France built very special buildings called cathedrals. These cathedrals had a certain look and style to them called French Gothic architecture.
French Gothic architecture had a lot of tall, pointy things called spires that went up really high into the sky. The buildings themselves were also really tall and had lots of little pointy things called pinnacles all over them. This made them look really fancy and important.
The buildings were also really pretty on the inside, with big stained-glass windows that let in lots of colorful light. There were lots of statues and carvings of people and stories from the Bible all around the building.
French Gothic architecture was built using a special type of stone called limestone. Workers would carve the limestone blocks into different shapes and sizes, then put them together with a special type of glue called mortar. It took a lot of work to build these buildings, sometimes even hundreds of years!
Today, many of these French Gothic cathedrals still stand and are visited by lots of people who want to see their beautiful architecture and learn about their important history.
