Functional classification

Functional classification is a way of grouping different things based on what they can do or how they are used. Let's pretend you have a bunch of toys - like blocks, balls, and stuffed animals - and you want to organize them. You might decide to put all the blocks together, because they are all good for building things. Then you might put all the balls together, because they are all good for rolling or bouncing. Lastly, you might put all the stuffed animals together, because they are all good for cuddling.

This is a lot like what functional classification does with things in the real world. For example, if you're talking about cars, you might group them based on what they're good for. Sporty cars might be put together in one group, because they're good for going fast and looking cool. Family cars might be put together in another group, because they're good for carrying people and groceries.

So functional classification is just a way of organizing things based on what they can do or how they are used. It helps us understand and compare different things by focusing on what they are designed to do.
