ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Functional diversity (disability)

Functional diversity refers to the different abilities people have to do different things. Just like how some kids are really good at running while others are great at drawing, people can have different strengths and challenges when it comes to things like seeing, hearing, walking, or thinking.

Some people might need extra help or special tools to do certain things that others can do easily. This could be because they were born with a difference, like being Deaf or having a learning disability, or because they experienced something that changed their abilities, like an accident or illness.

Functional diversity means that everyone has unique abilities and challenges, and that all of those abilities are important and valuable. It's important to make sure that everyone can access the support and resources they need to thrive and participate fully in their communities.
