GRB 020813

GRB 020813 was a Gamma Ray Burst(GRB) that was first spotted on August 13th, 2002 by NASA’s High-Energy Transient Explorer satellite. Gamma Ray Bursts are extremely bright flashes of energy generated by some of the most powerful events known to exist in the universe, such as the merging of two neutron stars or the death of a very massive star. GRB 020813 was the most luminous GRB ever discovered, meaning it was by far the brightest one ever seen! Scientists believe it was caused by two massive stars colliding and producing a huge burst of energy that could be spotted from Earth.
